and that's it! chapter 4, which has been going since may last year, is finally over! 81 pages long, good god. and so much has happened! you should probably go back and read the whole thing, but lets recap! 

• lucy doesn't wear real gems, their diamonds are made of glass. quartz can be used like gems to focus magic, but it isn't enough to cause real damage.
• lady derry and lady ophelia are dating :^)
• it's Pretty Obvious january has a crush on philomena
• lucy having magic has been questioned by ana, based on the fact their eye doesn't match their color scheme, they wear fake gems, and that they don't match ivy. whether everyone has noticed this, or if it's just ana, is unclear.
• later, lucy confirms that they can't use magic, and that rothart doesn't teach them anymore. philomena now knows this, and by trying to relate, made lucy even angrier, revealing how jealous they are of her. 
• su yeong, the red goat looking husk, appears and expresses how very angry she is at philomena, saying she doesn't deserve to be here, that she used to be weak and alone like lucy, and that she wants to make philomena pay. she takes posession of lucy, putting them in a trance and using them as a conduit for her power, to hurt philomena together.
• peony reveals she knows su yeong, calling her susu. this softens su yeong enough to release lucy and revert to a more human form, and blames philomena for what she is, saying she was "so angry".
• philomena uses the gem pasted to tully's forehead as a conduit for her magic, hitting peony in the back, getting her and lucy away, and then hitting herself, leaving ivy alone to fight su yeong.
• on the beach, philomena tells ophelia and derry what happened, and they evacuate the island. lucy, awakening, doesn't remember what happened. ivy returns, battered from a fight.
• sylas won by default, and under pressure from the other apprentices, chooses himself for elimination, despite the option of throwing the whole test out.
• husks are described as "a person consumed by magic" and as "wild, mindless creatures acting on animal instinct" by ophelia. they are to be destroyed specifically by representatives.
• lapointe is Very Upset by the news of the husk, and that sylas quit. she wants the husk to be kept as secret as possible. we also learn that her first name is fidelia. she has an antagonistic relationship with sylas' father. (they aren't married or related, i remember this being a point of confusion).
• philomena feels Very guilty about what happened on the island, and to su yeong. 
• ivy isn't lucy's familiar, and is instead "borrowed" from rothart, whose first name we learn to be thierry. im still gonna call him rothart tbh
• su yeong is an important person to tobi, and he knows what's going to happen to her.

so! hope you can all keep that straight. like i said, you should probably reread the chapter now that it's all together. the next two weeks will be guest content as usual, with chapter 5 starting on april 3rd (which is coincidentally never satisfied's second anniversary! funny how that happens).
